Brief Introduction:
Magnesium hydroxide (Mg(OH)₂) is an inorganic compound that occurs naturally in the mineral brucite. It has a variety of uses, including as an antacid, laxative, flame retardant, and smoke suppressant, and is also used medically to treat mouth ulcers and as a topical deodorant. At low doses, magnesium hydroxide acts as an antacid by neutralizing stomach acid, while at high doses, it acts as a laxative by increasing intestinal motility. In addition, new research has shown that its nanosheet form has antibacterial and fluorescent properties and can be used to make functional antibacterial bandages and gels. In the field of environmental science, the addition of magnesium hydroxide to wastewater can significantly reduce the concentration of carbon dioxide discharged into the ocean, increase alkalinity and reduce acidity, help mitigate ocean acidification, and has the potential to be a carbon capture and storage (CDR) solution. Experiments have shown that by adding a commercial-grade magnesium hydroxide suspension to the final effluent of a wastewater treatment plant, the CO₂ concentration in the water can be effectively reduced while increasing the total alkalinity without changing the amount of dissolved inorganic carbon.
As Magnesium hydroxide is a compound containing magnesium and hydroxide ions.
Magnesium hydroxide is a base and can neutralize acids, classifying it under alkaline compounds.
In medicinal chemistry, magnesium hydroxide is commonly used as an active ingredient in antacid formulations to relieve heartburn and indigestion.
Magnesium hydroxide is used in wastewater treatment to neutralize acids and as a flocculant.
Luhua Chemical specializes in advanced and environmentally friendly production processes, particularly in brine liquid alkali synthesis. Its first phase project has an annual output capacity of over 6,000 tons of high-purity magnesium hydroxide, 16,000 tons of gel-like nano magnesium hydroxide, 10,000 tons of gel-like nano barium sulfate, and 1,600 tons of special-grade magnesium oxide.
